Professional Artistry for all Painted Surfaces
The
art of decorative painting is as old as civilization. Throughout history,
people of every age and every region have produced dyes and pigments to beautify
their dwellings. Paint has been with us for more than 30,000 years and evidence
survives in early cave paintings.
Homes,
churches and even our tombs rarely go without color and decoration. Our walls
were the original canvases of self-expression. It could be said it is human
nature to color our home.
As owner and principle artist of MW WALL DESIGNS, Inc., I have been coloring
people’s homes since the late 90’s. As a kid, art was a large
part of my life. Being surrounded by artists, I was encouraged to draw, paint
and sculpt. It was in my early teens that I discovered my love of walls. Even
if it’s just a flat coat of house paint, I love watching a room transform.
After
high school I was headed towards art school but instead opted for the College
of the Atlantic, where I majored in Human Ecology. My first profession was
in film production and I eventually owned and operated my own production company.
But.... my addiction to paint took over. After 5 years in film, I changed
the name of my business and bought some brushes.
I have over 375 hours of decorative painting education under my belt. I’ve
learned from some of the best in the industry. A few schools worth mentioning
are the Faux Finishing School in Louisville, KY , and the School of Applied
Arts in Denver. I’ve received advanced training from some of the best
in the industry including Pierre Finkelstein, Pascal Amblard, André
Martinez, Sean Crosby, Nicola Vigini , Martin Alan Hirsch and Mike MacNeil
I can’t claim to be as good as I’ll ever be. I’m always
getting better at what I do and I’ve learned a lot over the past 8 years.
I’ve won a few awards and I have a huge selection of designs and finishes,
but my main credential would have to be experience. I love to paint and I
have thoroughly enjoyed the past 8 years in this versatile field providing
clients with unique and innovative design.
